Question about dextromethorphan, or better known as dxm?

I was curious on this subject, not to try, but b/c i work with kids and they were explaining this new popular drug to me...very scary.. there are products out there that are just the dextromethorphan and nothing else, i can't remember what brands they are....but i heard that other brands have different active ingredients that get kids sick and turn them off to the trip. but certain brands have just dextromethorphan as the active ingredient and work well for the "high" without getting ppl sick. Is this true? can kids take this without getting sick? it concerns me to hear about this b/c it seems getting sick is the turnoff that will help kids stay away from this, but if you can buy the dxm as the only main ingredient in a cold medicine then they will be more inclined. i think they were speaking about it being in pill form as well if that helps. i am a casemanager by the way and i don't condone this in any way, but i do listen to what my kids tell me is going on in thier schools.
