Why do so many Muslims I debate with rely on Tu Quoque and No True Scotsman?

Out of all of the blame games and hypocrisy I've come across in my dialogues with the Ummah, these two arguments are probably the most common (even above blaming white Americans for inventing African slavery and changing the subject to the Bible or the media). Why?
