Will a daily recurring hallucination ever stop?

it's this tiny, see through snake-looking thing with a bunch of clear circles surrounding it. sometimes just the dots or just the snake. it's not an actual snake that's just what it's shaped like. i see it probably 10 times a day, it floats through my vision and sometimes it only lasts a second but sometimes it will keep disappearing and reappearing for many minutes. when i close my left eye it always goes away. i've never seen it with just my right eye. it doesn't bother me much, it's just kinda annoying sometimes. the first time it happened i was with my friend and we had both drank a bunch of cough syrup but it didn't affect me at all. i wasn't messed up, i just saw this weird shape a couple of times. i didn't see it again for a week or two but then after that it was an everyday thing. is there anyway to stop this and could it be eye/brain damage from dxm since it only happens with my left eye? should i see a doctor or have my eye looked at? i think a doctor would be ignorant about it. it's been 5 months but i haven't told anyone cause i know it sounds kinda crazy.
